Manuscripts relating to the Dreyfus Affair, 1899-ca. 1918.

Collection consists of three letters written by Ferdinand Walsin Esterhazy to an unknown correspondant, six pages of notes by Esterhazy on the Dreyfus Affair, with Joseph Reinach's 52 p. memorandum written at Rennes about the pardon of Dreyfus, dated 1899. Esterhazy's letters, accompanied by transcriptions (in French) appear to reference World War I and were probably written from exile in England. The first letter discusses his father and uncle, calling them "brilliant generals of the Second Empire," mentions General Gallifet, and expresses concern for his children and the loss of family honor. The second and third letters also mentions his children and his concern for their welfare.
